The news about what is happening in Nepal is difficult to process; thousands of lives lost and people struggling to survive in the devastation around them. It reminds me of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and how the situation was worsened because the country was not prepared to handle this kind of catastrophe. Earthquakes cannot be prevented, but there has to be a way to equip countries that are at risk or to provide awareness. There has to be some way to avoid such loss of life. It has been encouraging to see people rescued days after being under rubble; however, aid needs to reach the survivors and more must be done to help Nepal during this time.
